White water rafting
Date: June 24-26, 2016
Time: Meet at 5:00 PM Friday evening, return Sunday afternoon
Saturday will feature a full day of rafting. The Kennebec River in Maine offers a class IV+ whitewater rafting adventure for fanatics to families. As we enter the steep granite walls of the Kennebec Gorge large waves can be seen ahead. From this point on the Kennebec River plunges 12 miles through a spectacular gorge with crashing class III – IV+ wave rapids like “Big Mama”, “Whitewasher” and “The Alleyway”. The high point of the day is the run through class IV+ Magic Falls. There are many Class III + rapids from this point on offering plenty of time for swimming and enjoying the river including stopping along the river bank where your guides cook up a steak and chicken barbeque with our famous Moxie Beans.
Scouts will be able to earn the White Water Rafting merit badge. The owner of Moxie Outdoor Adventures is an Eagle Scout and a registered merit badge counselor. Testing to earn the badge will be after we return to camp.
We will be camping Friday and Saturday on Lake Moxie, in The Forks, Maine. There are canoes and kayaks we can use Saturday evening and/or Sunday morning as well
